About the author
John Cowper rode on the last tram to run in Sydney in 1961 and the first to run out of Circular Quay in 2019.
In between, John followed his enthusiasm for all things transport so when it was hinted that a new tramway system could be built for Sydney, he made certain to document the whole process.
John was originally in marketing and advertising with some of Australia’s biggest advertising agencies later managing his own marketing agency for not-for-profit organisations and teaching marketing, advertising and sales techniques.
John is also a Board member of the Sydney Tramway Museum. This book is a culmination of his life long interest in transport and, in particular, the trams of Sydney
In 2014 when John Cowper started following the progress of Sydney’s CBD and South Eastern Light Rail project, he realised other people would also be interested so he began documenting the project with a view to writing a book.
John and, his wife, Corinne, decided to publish this book and possible subsequent books under the title “Tracks Publishing”.
There is another tram related book due to be published later in 2024.
